North Street School Reviews

NSS has been a fantastic experience for my three children. The motto, 'character is who you are when no one is watching' is reflected in the teachers, staff, and instilled in the students. The education, friendliness, and values have been maintained under the guidance of the new principal Dr. Smith. We appreciate NSS!

Wonderful school in every respect. Friendly, involved teachers, top notch principal (although she is leaving at end of '08). My two daughters went through this school and both loved it. Excellent advanced programs as well.

My daughter attended both Parkway and North Street School. Both schools are excellent in the education that you get at either school. The difference is what you may find in the mentallity of living in the 'back country' vs 'in town'. Parkway parents are more into volunteering and community. The kids are more innocent as a whole. At North Street the kids are more worldly and parents have less time/more money to donate instead. Overall you can not go wrong with either school. Just a matter of enviroment or mood preference.

I have nothing but good things to say about Betty Burfiend, the principal. In our 6+ years of involvement at NSS, she has never been anything but an asset, even when we have occasionally disagreed with her about various issues. Teachers have been plus/minus...mostly plus, though, and the one real 'minus' that one of our children had a few years ago was let go sometime last year. At least NSS rectifies its mistakes, eventually! Plenty of room for parents to get involved. The flip side of this issue is that working mothers are sometimes treated as being 'less than,' since they don't have the same availability for extracurricular activities as the stay-at-home moms do. Overall, I'm happy to have sent my children to NSS.
